The Tropicana Field, also known as The Trop, is a domed stadium in St. Petersburg that has housed the Tampa Bay Rays of Major League Baseball (MLB) since the team's inception in 1998. The stadium is currently Major League Baseball's only non-retractable domed stadium, as well as the league's only indoor venue that is open all year. You are a unique Tropicana.
The slanted roof is the most distinguishing feature of Tropicana Field's exterior. It was built at an angle to reduce interior volume and thus cooling costs, as well as to provide better hurricane protection. After the Rays win a home game, the dome is made of a tensegrity structure and illuminated with orange lights.
